1. I can’t imagine being able to commit to 5 days a week for 8 weeks. How can I make this program fit into my busy schedule?
Everyone in the Camp, including the instructor, had to make it work in their lives. You can’t afford NOT to make time for your health. Our goal is that you make a change – forever. You won’t see the results you want, or gain the important health benefits of exercise if you only come 2 to 3 times a week to a gym. Then you will get discouraged, and then you quit altogether. You can make it fit. You may have to get creative, but if your health is important enough to you, you can make it work. Once you go through the program you’ll realize how much better you feel, how your mood improves, and how much more you can actually get done in a day, and you’ll wonder why you haven’t always done it this way. What you give today you will get back 10 fold in the end.
2. How much does the program cost and what do I get for that amount?
The entire 8 week program is $500 plus tax. With this you get a full gym membership for the duration of the camp (a $190 value!), and discounts on membership or future Body Camps at the end of the 8 weeks. This price includes a BCC Notebook, full of fitness and food logs, a recipe book, tips and tricks to staying on track, important health/fitness information, and an extensive food guide. You will meet with your trainer 4 days a week, as well as all the BCC groups and trainers on Saturdays. Unlike some “other” boot camps around, you don’t need to bring any equipment, we supply everything for you. You will bring your BCC notebook to every workout with you so your trainer can add new tips to it, check your progress, answer questions and keep you on track. You will also journal (you are given time at the end of each workout) your fitness progress and plan your next day meals in the daily food log section. Compare this to a Personal Trainer at an average of $45/hour, or other Boot Camp programs (done in school gyms where you bring all your own equipment) that cost over $1,000 for 2 days a week, and you’ll see that it is WELL WORTH the price for a much better program.
3. What is the diet like? Do I need to buy any special foods or supplements? What if I’m a vegetarian?
The whole idea is that you can take what you learn in the camp, and use it in your life forever. We teach you how to shop for, prepare, and eat REAL FOOD. If you’ve done programs that use pre-packaged foods or food replacements, you will loose weight for a while, but it will only work if you plan on eating that FOREVER! Let’s face it, I don’t care how yummy a shake is, you can’t drink that as a meal for the rest of your life. Plus, your body is designed to process real foods, you just need to know what to eat and how. That’s our goal for you – to become a self-sufficient healthy eating machine! Vegetarian meals fit perfectly into our philosophy, we just need to take out all the refined carbohydrates, and find enough protein from vegetarian sources to create a balance – but that’s why you have a trainer, they know exactly how to modify the diet to your specific needs, whether they are medical or just being “picky”, we can make it work.
4. What if I have back or knee problems? Can the program be modified to meet my needs?
That’s why we only have the most qualified instructors who actually care about your success running our Body Camps. All the workouts can and will be modified to help you achieve your goals. The Body Studio is fully equipped with alternative equipment if you can’t do specific movements. You should always get clearance from your Doctor or Physical Therapist before you start any fitness program. The Body Camp Challenge is designed to be scaled to meet your needs.
5. Is there an age limit, old or young, to participate in a Body Camp?
On the young end, we say around 9 years old, depending on physical maturity. The emphasis on youth will be on making good choices to improve overall health, rather than weight-loss. There is absolutely NO LIMIT on the “mature” side! As long as your doctor says you are okay to exercise, you can do a camp (if your Dr. tells you exercise is bad, you may consider a second opinion……).
6. What if I’m going to be gone for a few days during the camp?
The program works best when members come to EVERY class, but sometimes “life happens” and you may need to miss a few workouts – no problem! Because you have constant contact with your trainer, they will set you up with workouts to do (depending on where you’re going or what you’re doing), and help you with menu ideas if you’ll be eating out a lot. The program is designed to be used in your “real life”. Fitness and health don’t stop when you go on vacation, so you will learn how to fit it into your life!
7. At the end of my 8 week Body Camp what do I do?
The whole idea of the camp is that by the end you will know how to maintain your health and fitness FOR LIFE! Many of the participants choose to do another camp right away because they enjoy the camaraderie, their goals changed and they realize they can do more, or they just need the commitment and accountability of being with the group. Those who don’t start a new camp generally become Body Studio or Sumner CrossFit members because they now have all the skills they need to participate in these programs, and they have a good understanding of the nutritional plan.
8. What is the exercise program like?
It’s easier to say what it’s not – it’s NOT like any other gym where you get a “program” on a bunch machines, and someone with “Trainer” on the back of their shirt checks in with you every once in a while! This fitness program is different everyday so you won’t get bored and your body won’t “plateau”. The workouts are based on movements that are FUNCTIONAL. Everyone likes to throw that word around, but if you use cables or machines that restrict your movement and do the balancing for you, you don’t know what the word means. We do movements that emulate conditions you face in everyday living, which conditions your body to be able to react to daily challenges better, increases you strength and cardiovascular fitness, as well as overall mental and physical wellbeing. Our instructors are highly trained and certified fitness professionals that have been working in the industry for years, and the program was designed by a Health/Physical Education teacher with multiple degrees and certifications in the fitness industry, who has been a Personal Trainer, Aerobic Instructor and Teacher for over 15 years. The quality of the instruction is far superior to most “gyms”, and you get one-on-one personal access to your trainer throughout the program.
9. I’m afraid I’m not fit enough to do this type of exercise?
Anyone, let me repeat, ANYONE can do this. We created this program to give people a place to start, and to give those who had “plateaued” in their workout routines a kick-start. In every camp, there are people who have never exercised before, working out along side people who have always worked out. Your trainer is there to modify everything for you, either to make it something you can do at your current fitness level, or challenge you to do something you didn’t know you were capable of. Read the testimonials, this is truly for every “body”.
10. What if I have kids? Is there a daycare?
We do have a great Kid’s Club at The Body Studio. The kids have fun playing games, doing art/crafts, reading, watching movies or enjoying some of numerous toys in the room. The Kid’s Club is open during every camp with the exception of the 6:00 AM. In addition to our Kid’s Club, we are teamed up with Jumpin’ Jack and Jill right next door, an inflatable play center which offers discounts to our Body Studio members, so your kids can get a workout jumping and bouncing to their hearts content, while you do something positive for your own heart! |
